The red are very pretty....although I am still partial to my yellow and red striped ones....I have several new pods coming along nicely. According to a website I found this morning, Stapelia's only stink indoors. Mine is outdoors. Must be why it had no strong smell.

Perhaps the scent glands are not mature yet.
Maybe this one prefers the sudden explosion of super-stink as opposed to the slight stink that slowly scales up as it matures.

reminds me of that story by h.g. wells, "man eating orchid" or something like that
