Phal. Pseudo Bulb Wrinkling

The pseudo bulb on my Phal. P. Long Pride Treasure is shriveling up. It is in bloom, and I have been watering it. Over the weekend I put them out to get some morning sun. The medium is primarily Orchid bark. It was originally all in sphagnum moss. I have recovered the medium with the sphagnum for additional moisture retention. Is this somewhat normal for the Phals when in bloom? It was repotted about 3 weeks ago when I purchased it. The blooms are doing fine. I will attach picture after I take one. It looks like it spent the whole day swimming in a pool. I thought this occurs when they are not receiving enough water. May be I need to sprizt it every day for a while?

Phals don't have pseudobulbs. Are the leaves limp or is the crown affected?

You must have the wrong tag on that one, 'cause that isn't a phalaenopsis. Looks like something in the oncidium family to me.

Wrinkly bulbs like that means that it isn't getting enough water, true. This does NOT mean you should water/mist it more. Usually it means that the roots are rotting/rotted. Unless you totally forgot to water it, I would unpot it and check out the root situation.

a pic is worth a thousand words...definitely not a Phal. I would not grow an Onc intergenetic in Shag. bark mix and allow to dry between waterings. The shriveling may be secondary to root loss from staying too wet.

I also wanted to add that you have plenty of time to save this one still, but check out the roots and get it out of the wet environment quickly. You still have some bulbs and leaves and a new one on the way, so if you can improve the roots on the new bulb, it should make it.

Move to a less wet environment, make sure it isn't staying soggy on the inside, don't let those wrinkled bulbs talk you into watering it more and try some fertilizer with rooting hormones in it to get things moving. This is currently working on an oncidium I overwatered. I additionally put mine in S/H culture with has greatly helped with the "rotting on the inside" issue.
