Default Our Landscape Project - A work in progress

As some of you know, our condo (42 units) is having a major, and much needed landscaping job done. I thought I might share some of our beautiful new look with y'all. It's still a work in progress. Mulch to be put down, and the north east corner will be turned into a gorgeous rock garden (hopefully in the next couple of days). Lots of lovely new plants though, many of which are flowering. I requested shades of red and purple, as I want to attract hummingbirds if possible, and butterflies.

So, here's a small part of the project. I hope you enjoy it.

What I see when I look down from the catwalk, or come down the stairs.

This particular area is right under my bedroom windows, and is also visible when I walk out my front door. It was a wasteland that contained nothing but one palm tree in the corner, and some grass that was flattened and beaten down from people using that corner as a short cut from their cars, rather than walking on the pavement.

There's so much planted there now, that there's no chance of walking across it, so now they'll have to walk around it all.

The corner that contains that palm tree is about to become a huge rock garden. That and the red mulch (not down yet) should really make all those gorgeous new plants just pop!!

I can't stop grinning at my wonderful new jungle.

These are interspersed with other areas, but have been used mainly under the stairs, where not much sun and light goes.

The flowers last just a day, but every day there are new ones. They remind me so much of tiny little orchids.

Thank you Ischel. I wish I could take the credit, but it all belongs to the landscape guy. I just stand back and let him do it all. He's the designer, and so far I haven't had anything to complain about.

Besides... anyone who brings me something like that Vanda I've been posting about, is my hero!!

It is looking so beautiful ! I look forward to seeing the rock garden, I hope you get lots of humming birds and butterflys in your garden it definately looks as though they will love it. It is really coming along fast, I can just imagine it in a couple of years time it will be a sea of flowers and plants, it is really gorgeous though as it is now.

This is what the back of the building now looks like. Prior to this, there was nothing under the windows but raggedy old, out of control hedges. Now it's nice and neat and just beautiful, especially for those who live on the ground floor.

Hibiscus trees. I never knew they came in tree form, rather than bushes.

looks wonderful, my concern would be that the hibiscus will get much bigger blocking the light from the windows and if those purple flowers are Bouganvellia they are going to grow out of control...nature of the beast

I'm more concerned about the bougainvilla getting out of control, but we've given Letty a maintenance contract too, so he'll keep things trimmed and neat. As for the hibiscus, I know the bushes can get really unruly... that's why we pulled out the one or two that were under windows.

There are some areas where we want the bougainvilla to spread out. That should stop the idiots from walking where we've asked them a gazillion times not to walk.

Of course, since I live on the second floor, I'm not at all concerned.

Awesome, I'm very excited for you!! All that color is such a pick-me-up!! If you see letty, ask him if he remembers the name of the person he worked with at the greenhouse where the vanda came from, maybe that person will recall which vanda he bought!

Becky, I'll ask him. Now the question is, will he remember. LOL
