Hi all,

I have some scale (ugh), that I've been battling with insecticidal soap and alcohol and removing as much of it by hand/toothbrush that I can...

Was reading around here a little bit, how do I tell the difference between hard scale and soft scale? Wouldn't hard scale not react to the alcohol well (supposed to be good for soft bodied insects, right?)

All my orchids are in my living area, which is shared with three birds and is only 600 square feet, so I hate using chemicals on a regular basis (esp. now that it's getting cold outside and I can't do it there!)

Thanks....
