My son is into reef aquariums and we have been talking a lot about it. While swimming (he he) through a site I happened across this thread:

Now, it is a VERY long thread, but these guys are really making some headway with LED lighting for corals. Maybe there is some information that would benefit orchid lighting?

yea I've heard of LED on reefs too. and reefs require more light than most orchids, so logically orchids should do well. Zooxanthellae, the coral's algae symbionts, just use slightly different light spectrums though
I see LED plant grow lights up for auction a lot.
