stalled phal spike

Hi everyone --
There's been a nub of a spike -- just big enough to see it's a spike and not a root -- on one of my phals for months and months, and it's not growing or dying or doing anything. I don't think it's ever going to do anything.

Does anyone know what would cause it to stall? Plants all around it are spike and blooming, and I'm stumped (pun intended)

Try changing some of its conditions: give a little more light, turn it to face a different direction, or repot it. A lot of times, the "little stress" from those kinds of changes is enough to get a stalled spike going again.

I have a phal schilleriana that have stalled spike for over one month. It was growing outside and when the nub appeared in late September, I brought it inside. The spike immediately stopped growing. Thinking it doesnt like its environment,(hubby also smoke in the same room) I put it back outside again few days ago. The spike shoot up like a rocket, lol. It is now more than an inch long compared to 1 cm for over one month.
