Grown as an annual in my region, for those of you in the warmer climes I believe this is a perennial. A common name for this plant, at least around here, is Persian Shield (don't ask me where or how that name arose).

Very pretty, we have it here in the Caribbean, grown as a ground cover. Don't know what the locals call it.

I had it in the ground until the big freeze two years ago. Lovely photo, Paul.
Beautiful foliage. Found in many of our gardens, I believe it originates from Myanmar (Burma).
