    Default How's the lotus doing LJA ?

    Any blooms yet ? Ours are jsut starting to send the spikes up !

    Hi Gilda!

    The lotus is growing amazingly fast! We have several new leaves, none standing above the water yet, but any day now!!! I am so glad to see you back here. I will tell you asked about the lotus. He is in graduate school now, so that is keeping him really busy.

    I went out and snapped some quick shots of the lotus you sent to us last year. We left it in the pond over the winter. Here are a couple of shots from today. Something has been chewing on the leaves a bit. The third photo is another lotus we got in Texas back in April. It was just a root, but it has put up three leaves. One standing above water level and another that just popped up yesterday. I hope it blooms for us too. This one will be yellow.

    They look good ! The one on the bucket will mature faster because the water stays warmer. Wow, something is chomping on them...we once had a large snapping turtle get in our pond and would bite the lily leaves off the stalks ! Tell Louis I said Hi !!

    Well, the one in the bucket has put up a bud! I guess the one in the lake got jealous of the attention the one in the bucket was getting, so it put up a bud too!

    I will try to get photos as they bloom!

    BTW, Gilda, I put three small gold fish in the bucket planter. They are still alive today, so I think they might just make it!!!

    Wow - that red bloom confused me and I thought for a moment I'd forgotten to take off my rose-colored glasses. Then I sorted out (being the smartie that I am) we were watching two buds open!
