OK you senior growers, I have NEVER grown this type of orchid before.

So my question is: What are the requirements? Soil, Watering Care ..etc. etc. and more etc.

I'm planning on purchasing this guy .. and at $50.00 for a small plant (not blooming), I'd hate to kill the darn thing. But I sure like the looks of it.



This is not the actual picture of the orchid. I'll get one about 10" in height, not blooming and mounted on a Hauupu Bark which is similar to an Australian Tree fern bark.

If it were you, would you keep it on the bark and hang it? Here's you can teach an old Orchid kichi new new tricks.

I also just notice that the plant is right next/beside a Koi pond with a red/white Kohaku in the background. LOL!

Here's what I would be getting ... Kinda Small for 50 bucks? What do you think?

Looks bit expensive for the size but I do not know the local rates and I could be wrong. I am not so good with this genus. There a few bulbo experts who certainly chime in.

I grew this bulbo for a few years but it was killed in the 'polar vortex' a few years ago when most of my original orchids were destroyed. I grew mine in a pot, but it kept stepping out. I think it would have done better in a basket. It also seemed to like the warmth in my greenhouse as it grew pretty big before it got covered in ice. I wanted that orchid for what felt like forever and finally got it around 2010 or so, then, only a few short years later the polar vortex demolished it. I wish you much better luck with yours. I think I need to add this one back to my wish list again. Maybe I'll get it as a gift this time... haha... The orchids I get as gifts seem to live lots longer than the ones I pay too much money for
BTW 50.00 seems good for that plant. It looks healthy and well established. Again, good luck!!
