    Default Is this Fusarium?

Hello, My Ascda Jakkrit Gold has this issue where when soaked patches of the roots refuse to take in water. No matter how long I soak. There has been no new root growth, tips have died back due to acclimation and lack of humidity. I use distilled water with appropriate dosage of feed. I noticed along the stem of the orchid the leaves have veining almost as if it was dehydrated. Is this Fusarium? I’ve heard this disease constricts the plants ability to circulate its sap for nutrients. Alot of these symptoms are adding up. I need a senior grower’s expertise. Please help I’ve only had this one for barely 2 months. I want to save it.

Update, I couldn’t sleep last night. I woke up this morning decided to get ready to cut the stem. I sterilized my tools and made the cut. The stem showed not a purple ring but what appeared to be some kind of infection. Which explains why some of the roots had been doing so poorly. The only roots with active growth tips were the ones I left on the Vanda. Everything else; nothing. I sprayed 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to sterilize and cinnamon powder to the cut stem and damaged root. Cleaned out the basket and reestablished the orchid back in it’s basket with zip ties. I did it. I cant help but feel a little heartbroken that I did this though. Hopefully now she can have a bright future and I can once again have a chance to see the gorgeous sunny blossoms that blasted into it’s entry in my growspace.

If the cut face shows brown staining that is a rot, and you were right to cut it out completely. Whether it was fusarium or something else does not matter. Personally I think of fusarium as leading to wilt, but as I say, whats in a name... ( actually ) ir was Shakespeare who said that ).
But the green and white patches on wet roots are normal. They are green where all the air in the outer layers of velamin has gone and been replaced by water. White where not. And that does not matter.

@Dorsetman Thank you for your reply it has given me self assurance that I have done the right thing. The gray patches on the roots refusing to take in water, the veining exposed on the stem and the bottom leaves that had yellowed and fallen before all the green was gone had me believing that something was wrong. Just goes to show we should trust our gut. Yes, I do understand that concept with the roots. However there were patches and you can see that on the last pic of the first post that no matter how long I soaked refused to turn green. Healthy Vanda roots go completely green with tiny silver dots in a pattern. So with everything added up I made the cut. Again thank you I really appreciated your reply.
