Size: 29.9 KBMy mini phal has quite a bit of algae growing around the sides & on top of the potting media. It is in bloom, with a growing basal keiki & its roots appear to be in good condition. I'm just wondering if the algae is anything to be concerned about.

I wouldn't worry about algae and moss in the potting media. Your phal looks happy and healthy.

I agree with Yew. Your orchid looks good and speaking strictly for myself I believe that moss or a little algae enhance the appearance of the orchids. Al

Mary, your phal looks great with the extra greenery. And is that a baby in the pot?

    Smile Thanks!

Thanks for your help everyone & the compliments. Yes, there's a baby in the pot. I told my mom she can have it when it's big enough. She's excited, but I told her it would be a while!
