Hi,
Just wanted to know what is the indication that the potting media needs to be replaced?
Is there any kind of thumb rule based on the number of years , type of orchids or type of media.
Thanks,

Typically a good bark mix will start to break down in two to three years. If you see that water doesn't run through the mix quickly, it could mean the mix is breaking down and holding more water. Sometimes, there is a smell. I know many new orchids I get come in mix that is broken down and it has a smell. This is an interesting question. I look forward to other observations too.
Cheers,
