Dendrobium Candy Stripe and Blc. Cumberland Beauty 'Regal Jewels'

These two are regular bloomers. The pictures of Dendrobium Candy Stripe actually shows two plants, one with 6 spikes and a second plant with two spikes. The cattleya, Cumberland Beauty, has improved with each blooming. These flowers are the best so far...

Love both of these. The Catt is beautiful. Have been looking for the Dendrobium ---now I have to add that Catt to the list. Just love the color.

Holy Monkey...that's a nice display on those Dens! I wish I could deal with the tall ones. I just don't have the space for tall light lovers. Lovely Catt too!! I like the earthy tones...

Yeah, I love dendrobiums that get big and tall. I have several out back spiking out. If I ever had to pare my collection down to only one kind, the dendrobiums would be staying. They grow and bloom great here....and I love the big tall pbulbs.

Like the Catt but the Den. WOW!!! Makes mine in Colorado look puny with 1 spike... Love that candy stripe! Looks like a Dendrobium waterfall cascade.

If you want flowers in summer and fall, Dendrobiums are the plant. The more sun they get, the earlier mine spike. I was slow getting mine out front this year and as a result they are blooming late. I have a local nursery gal that insists dendrobiums be grown as close to full sun as they will tolerate. She sets pots out in the full sun and after they get done burning they grow new growths that are larger, handle the sun and bloom like crazy with multiple spikes. These things will bloom out of pot, no fertilizer, all they truly seem to need is lots and lots of sun. I hear in Hawaii they grow them along the sides of their driveways like bushes. lol Now that would be a sight!

Thank you...I am very proud of my dendrobiums. I was fortunate early on to meet growers that knew how to get dendrobiums to bloom down here. Between the great advice from my local nurseries and this website, it has made learning to grow orchids much easier and much more enjoyable. I cannot imagine trying to grow orchids back in the old days.
