I know I started another thread on this particular bloom, but I just had to give the award its own thread. It was an incredible, out-of-body sort of experience. I think they awarded it after looking at it about 3 minutes - usually they take half an hour. They took it outside to see it in daylight (an almost certain signal that they're going to give an award) within ten minutes and then came in and took all the measurements. It's a very concise description compared to most others I've seen, if you can read it in the photos. Phillip would have been deliriously proud. I can almost see him smiling down at me. I'm very grateful to have been given the opportunity and the strength to get it to the judging session. Atlanta is a tough judging crowd, and very few are awarded - most of them coming from nurseries, or from the judges themselves. I think there were 2 other awards that day.
Thanks so much to everyone for believing in me, and for your kind thoughts of Phillip. "Bigfoot" lives on in Orchid History!
