My Cattlela has black rot

My very large new Cattleya took a tumble of the table and it just bloomed! it is very top heavy. the seller told me after it bloomed it needed to be repoted. so it fell and i noticed a lot of black all along the roots of the 3 back bulbs. i have it soaking in physon 20 at the moment. what next or was that the right thing to do to beging with? Any help would be appreciated

Maybe show us some photos? If you have black rot that is a start. Peroxide also works well. I usually cut out the rotted parts so they don't spread, but before you do that let us verify with a photo.

Yes, if you could get a picture that'd be very helpful. Sometimes it's not as bad as it first seems.

Karen, I agree, pictures will help. Black rot affects new leads\youngest growths at first. You probably have a different kind of rot, not so devastating. Please post some pics, and we will try to help!
