Black Rot

Hi,
I've been trying to save this phal for almost a year and decided to try sphrag and bag. Now it looks like the plant has black rot. I removed as much of the black material as possible, and poured peroxide over the roots. Should I let the plant air out for a number of days,or weeks? Would repotting in perlite be wise?

Thank you for any help you can provide. I would really like to save this orchid.

Hi Joan , I recieved a number of Phals in a trash bag all had black rot, the person decided to quit orchids... sent them to me I poured peroxcide over the rot removed what I could ,most were the leaves and some the crown, no roots at all . I did not pot them, layed them on a rack in a shaded area away from my others , some grew new roots and the leaf rot stopped others did not make it . Air is important... if you were to pot it I would use Spag. Good luck with it . Gin

Did you provide any moisture when the plants were on the rack?

Why would you use sphag as opposed to perlite?

Hi , I sprayed them down off and on in the am. and tried to give them a humid area . The reason behind the Spag. is just my preference , perlite would work but I found it hard to keep the pots and plant upright .
Also Spag. is supposed the have some anti fungal properties .. don't know about that for sure . Gin

I think I'm going to let the plant air out for a while and see what happens. The leaves don't seem to be affected and the roots that are left don't look black . They're very short. I hope they grow.

Hi, would it be possible to save a phal like this by mounting it on a stick? Or would that be too much of shock?
