My updated grow areas 4.21.12

Hi Everyone:


After a brief absence on OT, I'm putting together some photos to update my collection.

These are shots of my various grow areas, such as they are. I'll put together sequential posts to split them up properly.

Right now, the indoor plants are not receiving enough light, so we are going to try to rig up some really bright daylight spectrum fluorescents today.

I took these this morning at about 7:00 am, while it was still somewhat dark outside, and the fogkept any direct sun from skewing the colors.

As I was taking the photos on the balcony, our local Great Blue Heron flew in and walked (or stalked) along the edge of the lake. He was moving too fast for me to get a clear shot, but I did get a blurred one that gives a sense of his elegance.

So, here they are, the full range of our space for our 150 or so orchids:

Me too maybe one day you will get better photo that heron is very nervous bird and is not that easy to take the photo, lovely your growing area such a very nice and well decorated plants and so neat Maura.

Thank you, Zain. Yes, the heron is very alert and moves quickly and unpredictably. My zoom lense really isn't good enough to get a good shot, but Phillip's lense goes to 200, so maybe I'll borrow it some day.

Oh dear, I think we are truly kindred spirits - think of all the crazy things we can do when we get together. How are your paphs doing, by the way?

I think we would be in trouble. If I got you hooked on begonia and gesneriad species (which without a doubt I could) You would be adding covered domes all over the house. The paphs are doing ok. I just need to find a place where they and I will be happy.

WOW...great use of space Maura! Doesn't seem cramped or cluttered and your balcony overlooking the lake still looks as open and airy! Convey my congratulations to Philip for his bonsai and I spy your new bonsai plant there as well. Herons are too difficult to photograph well.
