Tallest cattleya in my collection...so far. Gotta say I'm loving this spike of flowers. And the flowers are funny. Put them against a different background, change the lighting a little and you get a totally different color in pictures. The picture of the plant with the yard stick is the closest in color to what they look like in person. And no scent so far. I bought this monster this spring at the nursery. I took one look at it...towering over the other cattleya and said, "Mine!". lol





This third picture was taken with a flash indoors. Gotta love the sparkly texture to these flowers!



You cannot see the bottom of the measuring stick...it is at the base of the pot. If I lift it to the top of the potting, it measures an inch or two shy of 3 ft. Not a plant for the "space limited" grower.

Lol @ least you do not have to bend over much to smell the flowers,beautiful display , well worth the room it takes.

Great Catt' but a little head height short on in orchid house I prefer the dwarf forms.

Yeah that's one of the issues that digital cameras in particular still have issues with. I could never fit a monster like that in my growing areas. Nice that you can keep it outdoors for much of the year.

i had one years ago, it got huge and i gave it away, in sections. nobody would take the whole thing. did ok in a south facing window. the flowers smelled like bubblegum in very bright light, after watering. but it takes a few days to kick in. mine always seemed to bloom in the heat of summer. the room would be roasting and this orchid was loving it, while some others wilted form the heat.

Beautiful!!! Have mine in flower too 9 flowers but the plant is not nearly as tall as yours. Think u have significantly more flowers
Will take pictures this weekend and post so u can see the difference
