vanda.. Miss Joaquim lighting?

Hello. My guy bought me a Vanda Miss Joaquim. I'm afraid we just don't have bright enough light for her in our home. I need to buy her a light and was wondering what kind to get? Can I get away with a table type lamp?
So much information about lighting that I just don't know where to start..and I don't have the money to invest in a whole system.

Vanda - now Papilionanthe - Miss Joaquim is a primary hybrid of Ple teres and Ple hookeriana, both of which require very high light levels to bloom adequately. Once the nighttime temperatures stay above 60°, up where you are, you can safely transition it into full sunlight.

Indoor lighting can be a problem for them, as most standard lamps just don't have sufficient output. However, if you can place it close to a window providing lots of light, some supplementation may be all you need.

Tell us about the possible window exposure you have, and I'm sure we can make some reasonable recommendations.

On a positive note - with artificial lighting, you have two factors to deal with, intensity and distance, so it may be possible to provide sufficient lighting by bringing a lamp much closer, rather than investing is a huge one.

Thanks for your input!!! The only window that gets good lighting for more then a hour is a west window...
I have not had her for even a week now and the bottom of her stem is turning yellow....

I have read that it does not bloom until it is 15-20 inches above it's support. Being it requires full sun and high humidity and needs to get big to bloom, I would not consider it as a window plant.
