repotting Dendrobium Kinigianum question

I ordered a small Dendrobium Kinigianum online and the seller forgot to mail it it was suppose to be a small plant bare root but he sent me a bigger plant to make up for the delay (good deal)

and it came potted in sphagnum moss
do I leave it alone, do I re-pot it in the spring or now , I would like to grow it in lava rock but if it will risk the plant re-potting i'll leave it alone , I read that these like to dry out between watering but are not very choicy about there meda
what do you people think

I repotted it yesterday , when I squeezed the moss ( after removing it from plant ) about 1/2 cup of water poured out of it and I just gave it a light watering the day before

It will definitely like it better in wood chips, IMO. I am doing the dry winter rest thing with my Den kingianum. So I cut fertilizer off about the end of September and have been slowly cutting back on water frequency till next Saturday when it goes to the garage and gets nothing till February 14. Last winter, my first wintering Dens, they grew a bunch of roots and were in fine shape.

Some say the dry, no water part of the winter rest isn't necessary. But I am doing it anyway.

I put it in lava rock not wood chips , this way it will not need re potting till it out grows the pot in a few years , no rotting wood chips

That should be okay. Most any thing but sphag.

only thing with more air would be to mount or put it in a empty basket

Probably would love being mounted or hanging in a basket. I have found orchids love hanging even in just pots. I haven't hung any paphs. It is not part of their culture I don't think.
