This Osprey caught a fish in our canal and sat on the neighbor's dock and had supper while we were having cocktails this evening. Didn't see the catch but here is the main course.

Man, the wildlife really loves you!
I had a less wild dinner, but no less momentus, meeting Quing, (her name is pronounced "Ching-wa") her husband John and her father visiting from China (Mr. Lee). We had a great Italian meal and then I got to go back and see her orchid setup at home.
It was great fun, and I'm posting in the wrong place, so I'll stop now, and I took lots of pictures, but couldn't wait to eek it out. Now to collapse! (Long day.)
Cool osprey, Cin!

Wonderful close picture Cin! When I was down there a few weeks back we went out on the water one day and I was amused that almost every post in the water with a "slow--manatees" sign, also had an osprey nest on it. Apparently it was quite the thing to do if you are an osprey!
Julie--glad you got to have dinner with Qing and her family! I look forward to your pictures.
I bet it's a better fisherman than I am.
Cool Osprey! I've never seen one of those before; very regal- it reminds me of an eagle... maybe its a tropical eagle? haha...
You have a canal and docks? My oh my, I am living in the wrong place still. Mind you, I say that but I do quite like my home. Is the canal mad made of natural? Not that it makes much difference - am still envious!
I think I'd miss things like seeing the Wisteria flower in Spring and buddleja in Summer. Maybe I could just have two homes and spend my time back and forth enjoying the different bits....
I have friends who do that, Kerry - they have homes in London and Key West. Go for it!

We have Wisteria and Buddleia here too...and I'm sure you could have that in Florida as well! I have 2 or 3 buddleia myself (no wisteria in my yard though because it's such an invader it takes over everything, and I don't have time to fight it) See...you just lost your excuse.
Ah but we have Orange blossoms in the spring and Gardenias and Frangipani in the summer.
Our neighbors are from Torquay in the UK, They now have this house up for sale (something about wanting to be near their new and only grand baby) Kerry come on over and buy it we can watch each other's orchids. The canals are man made but there are 33 miles of them.Cin
