Vanda family cross breeds

I hope that title makes sense. I can grow vandas ok, have 2 reanthra (sp) and they are doing ok, but when I've tried Mokara or Kagawara they die quicker than I can pay for them. I live in south Florida so I figured they should do okay and when I google for culture the info is same for vandas. Any input would be appreciated. thank you.

Hi Ed, I grow both Mokara and Kagawara, mounted. They do better for me. They seem to like higher humidity the wood can provide than the other vandaceous tribe. I know, I know...Thrips, but I spray them often.
Until I started mounting them they did poorly for me. Once they get firmly rooted in and grow above the mount is when they bloom best (my opinion). I think you can achieve some of the same effects with baskets that have some chunks of tree fern added. But for me they do better mounted on wood.


....oh and as much sun you can provide without scorching them.
