Sick Vanda - spikes or roots?

I purchased two Vandas on an online auction from a guy in Florida. They were not packed very well and the plants have shown a few issues. The one I am worried about has lost a leaf - it turned yellow with brown/black spots in it. I cut it off. quite a few of the roots seem to be dried up and dead, however it does have quite a few good roots. The odd thing is that about 2 weeks after I got it, it has two new growths. I am not sure if they are roots or spikes. I've never had a Vanda with a spike and it doesn't look like the root that popped out on my other Vanda.

Any ideas on the yellow and brown leaf? And what do you think these little guys are?

looks like a spike to me. worst case it could be a keiki.

Thank you. There is a new root popping out (reddish tip under the little green growth on the right) and these little things look different.

Again, I'm just happy to see growth!! However, double spikes would be pretty incredible.

spike or keiki either way you win, if plant was not packed well at this time of year probably heat stress, looks like it is making a good comeback

Well, evidently this plant thought I was trying to kill it by moving it to Texas. I have two keiki. I did lose two leaves - they turned yellow and i cut them off and treated for fungal and bacterial infection. It seems to have stopped spreading once I cut the leaves off.

Now the two little guys are coming out of each side at the base. I'm excited to watch them grow. I will get pics of them tomorow.

Happy for you Mary. Just allow it to grow a few inches of root and then you could separate it.

Here are the two keiki. The plant is starting several more new roots and the remaining leaves on the main plant all seem healthy. These little guys are growing fast.

With those big fat green roots it's no wonder the keikis are thriving. Please keep us updated on their growth and when you decide to separate them from the mother!
