I think a forum field trip is in order, once Nelson's new facility is up and settled!

I made some selfings because this is my only odorata in bloom at the moment, and I also did four Aerides odorata var calayana x Vanda merrillii. I look forward to some really dark red aerides.
I will know the results a few days from now.
The selfing I did for Vanda javierae last week resulted in a pregnancy. I hope it carries to term, probably around December.
Do you use a commercial lab for flasking, Nelson, or do you do it yourself? I'm guessing you have access to a sterile hood.

Do you know, since i have joined this forum my dreams have changed rather a lot to include having my own greenhouse, and then lately just giving up work altogether and becoming a full time gardener. Of course this all depends on us winning the lottery and buying a big house that has a big garden and room for a greenhouse etc...
So, whilst I suggest that I am envious, I am really pleased that there are people out there on this forum who really are able to fulfill a bit of their dreams. Whether it be getting their book published, or buying land to grow more orchids!
And I think the field trip is a great idea one day!
I am pleased to hear that your family has done well with farming. There are so many stories of farmers going out of business in the UK due to things like supermarket pressures. It's really very sad.
