You've got a lot of Aerides blooming, Nelson. Is now their more natural blooming cycle, or do some go in the spring and some in the fall, as it seems yours do?

I mean, they are vandaceous, and like vandas, they can grow bareroot. I don't think all vandaceous grow that way, though.

And, I suspect aerides grow better mounted on some slab of wood, but it is more convenient for me to grow them bareroot. I hose the root masses twice a day. And, because most of the plants are in my driveway, the excess water that is on the floor evaporate to provide more moisture and humidity. Evaporation is insured by current hot and dry weather and the two electric fans.

I just acquired a five-acre lot in the foothills (1500 feet above sea level) that is being prepared to eventually serve as my orchid haven. A number of plants are in temporary "board" in a neighbor's small coffee plantation there, plus some more in temporary storage in the mountains...
