Can you clear up a question I have had about my orchid? I have a phalenopthis that we got in bloom last year. After the bloom I was unsure how far to cut it back. I decided doing the least cutting might get me a 2nd bloom-and it did. After that I cut it back minimally. I now have 2 places on the stem where I have leaf growth. They are growing VERY SLOWLY. There's inches of stem past them, maybe an 1 1/2 between them and probably about 3 inches between the plant and the first sprout. Should I cut this back all the way? And maybe put these in medium with prayers? The plant is putting out new leaves on the plant itself. I was told to give 1/4 strength fertilizer at every watering-that is what I have been doing. I have been happy it has not died yet as several others have. We heat with wood and sometimes it gets a little chilly inside. Maybe I will try putting a big bag over in the evening to maintain the warmth.
Oh well-What do you think?
