"Discovered by the British official R. Moore in 1893, and named after the proprietor of a British nursery, Paph. charlesworthii is a delightful little species native to Burma (Myanmar) and China. The flower is distinctive for a bright white staminode and an oversized pink to magenta dorsal sepal, which opens up flat but invariably reflexes with age. The leaves are mostly plain green on top, but the leaf base is heavily peppered with discrete maroon spots. A striking album form of Paph. charlesworthii also exists, with a crisp white dorsal and apple green petals & pouch. Paph. charlesworthii is an easy grower that prefers moderately bright light levels while growing, although shade will prolong flower longevity. Flowering is facilitated by a cool winter rest period."
