Buy this NOID?

As per a recent thread, I rescued a drowing Noid that my friends here have helped me to identify.
So, my friends, I left this one behind at the time because neither name tag or grow tag was in the pot.
Can you help and identify this one too? The color of the middle picture is most true to life.

It looks like a zygopetalum...but then I'm not an expert on these.

Yes, a zygo. Not sure which one. I bet it has a nice fragrance though.

Well, I did a RVO forum search and it sounds like a purchase asking for trouble. Maybe 20% of the threads were positive. "Many successfully grow zygopetalums under the same conditions cymbidiums." I can not provide either the high humidity or the cool temperature.
Whew, I'm glad I didn't do it.

Hey Joe. Get it if you like the flower. If it looks like it will not make it under your care, or if it starts going down hill, give it to a friend or trade it at your orchid society. Life is too short to not take a chance every once in awhile. I bet you can grow it and if not, you learned something from the attempt. JMHO -Good luck either way.

I agree; if you like it, give it a try!

Also, in my opinion, it's easier to bloom a zygopetalum than a cymbidium. But again, everyone has a different experience, and you won't know what works for you until you try.

I have to agree with Bruce, try a new one once in awhile...you may suprise yourself and do better with it than the ones that are supposed to do well where you are. And, if you aren't getting it to thrive, take it to a meeting and find someone that grows them and offer to trade it for something you are better with. The zygo's can be hard to come by. Good Luck!
