Arghhhh Again!!!!!

i am so frustrated. i was watering and knocked one of my rescue babies (only two pbulbs) out of its s/h container. As i was putting it back in, so happy that it looked great with new roots and a new growth of about one inch, i broke the new growth! this is the second time i do this!!! i actually screamed out loud, prompting my oldest to run in who right away wondered if her sister had sabotaged one of my orchids. poor kid, i mean my human kid this time! i am so bummed!!! it was really taking off (my 'chid)...what to do, what to do...off to buy another that's what!!! i'll let you know tomorrow what i pick up.

Cherub, you could always post a photo of the poor catt, then this will be the proper section. I just managed to ...um...loose the new growth on a cymbidium I was putting onto s/h.

I know how you feel.
It happens.
That is part of the orchid life. Just the other day the neighbor's cat knocked over one of my cymbidium pots in the patio and the plant fell out of the pot. As I picked it up I saw three 2-inch spikes on the floor. Nothing I can do about them now, except wait for next year again.

I know the feeling. One of my Cib. bag babies had finally bloomed. It had 3 nice blooms on it, and was looking good. I threw a tee shirt to my son, and bam, broke the spike right off. Talk about pissed off. I probable could not have done that if I had aimed for it. Orchids are very strong plants, as long as they are happy with there enviorment. I think it will probable do fine with a little TLC, but not too much.

well, i haven't had the chance to console myself with a new plant, but i will tell you new growth is already pushing itself out. it's such a wonder, these catts are very forgiving. i acquired them last year as a newbie to the orchid world, they have gone through my learning curve and some of them have managed to survive. some (10 of them) even put out sheaths but not all have made it. well, each devastation is easier to handle than the last...guess, the cosmos wanted me to work on acceptance and patience...just thought the lesson would come from having children not from having orchids!!!!!
