just so people don't think I am a species nut I took a pic of this. This was one of my original chids that I purchased when I fist started collecting. It kept crawling out of it's pot, so I mounted it a couple of years ago. It blooms twice a year for me.

I'm still searching for my Twinkle. A nursery in Canada had them on their website but since it's still too cold to order I was just waiting and new they've taken it off their website. I saw Sweet Sugar at the show last weekend but it's just not the same. For some reason I tend to keep purchasing plants that are smaller and smaller so I can fit more onto my stands.

Richard, Oncidium cheirophorum and Oncidium ornithorhynchum are small species, the parents of Twinkle. You might want to look for them. Check Paramount

I still have one of them as well. It is getting big...I also mounted that one.

Does mounting the Onc. inhibit the growth or just for ease of maintenance ?

Carl, if you look at the plant it looks quite happy on it's treefern mount. These just love to climb so why try to keep it confined to a pot, particularly when they just climb out of the pots anyway. I did it for it felt right and figured if the plant died, it was no big loss. Well, it flourished on it's mount.

Why doesn't anyone believe me about not being a species nut. Actually, if you look at my slipper and Catt section of my collection, I have very few species. The rest of the collection is mostly species though. I never figured out the percentage.
