Violaceas (and bellinas) tend to need slightly warmer temperatures (and possibly brighter light) than most other Phals. It's also quite typical for the spikes to do nothing for sometimes lengthy periods. As long as the spike remains green, the plant could "come to life" at any time, so don't give up hope! This type of Phal is one where you should not be removing old spikes.
