Vasco Pine River

I've had this little one for 4 yrs. Was in bloom when I got it and then skipped a year, then next yr had one bloom, last year had 3 blooms and something got to it and tried to pollinate it. It formed 2 pods that aborted, so this year I bought it inside as soon as the first bloom opened(not taking any chances). It has 10 flowers and about 6 more buds to open. No fragrance. The flowers are about 1 1/2" across. I don't know if this is characteristic of this orchid, or if it's stunted. Anyone out there have the answer?

I brought two seedlings Pine River-Pink and Pine River-Orange, I just hope the pink one looks as good as yours. Very nice.

It's not often I get the chance to correct an orchid grower but the correct name for your orchid is Vasco pine riverS as in the North and South Pine Rivers that are just north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. The orchid is one in a series bred by Roslyn & Fred Xerri . I just phoned them to check on the plural thing.

I think this blooming is more normal. I don't know why it would have skipped a year. My Pine Rivers usually has between 10-20 flowers, though mine are usually a bit smaller than yours appear. Maybe it was just saving up some energy to really bloom big.
