orchid replating

okay, i know i've seen it on the forum somewhere, but darned if i can find it. i am expecting a flask of cats that need to be replated. it should be here today or tomorrow, so i need the recipe for replating material. any tips would be a great help!

it has arrived! the plants are tiny and need to go into another flask. they are still too small for a compot. i think i know how to deflask orchids, i got a couple flasks 2 or 3 weeks ago, put them in compots and none of them are dead (yet)! i just don't know how you make the mix you flask the little seedlets into. i would just leave them in the original flask, but, aside from it being crowded, they got all scrambled up in shipping. note: the post office finds "this side up" to be confusing! i need the reflasking recipe or flasking recipe if it's the same thing. thanks!

Donna, I think if they are scrambled leaving them in the flask is not a good idea. Can you post picture?

Oops..... they are very little, but you have no time to prepare for replating- it will take couple of weeks (at least) to get the flasks ready. Here is the thread that I think you were looking for:

The key to replating sucessfully is to maintain the sterile conditions. The replate flasks, work area, tools, atmosphere, etc must be sterile. Be careful not to breath over or into the flasks. If you can do this you have time to spread out the little ones into several flasks. Watch the replates closely, if you see signs of contamination deflask soon so it does't take over and kill everything. Also remember flasks do better at low light levels 200 - 500 footcandles. Too bright and growth slows down. Good luck.

okay, they're out of the flask. i have potted some small ones in peat with periolite. the next pick is the size of them. final photo is the number of them (that's after i potted 30 or so and tossed another 20+ on the counter for the photo). alll i can say is the person who flasked these had on heck of a germination rate! i have compotted some this small a couple weeks ago and they still haven't died. looks like i have a couple hundred of the little suckers so i'm open to potting/replating suggestions. i understand i should have planned a lot further ahead if i wanted to replate them.
looks like my goal is to find every way possible to kill an orchid in my first 2 months. incidently, the ones i have must have one hell of a will to live! i started with 93 that had been soaked by a big box store and had almost no roots. so far only 2 have passed on!
