Is this baby cattleya Intermedia Amethystina flowering?

Hi all.

Just a couple of quick questions. I have this baby orchid (Cattleya Intermedia Amethystina) still very young with what I think is a flower spike. Isn't it a little young? The spike is growing from near the base of one of the little canes. The whole thing is only about 2 inches tall lol.

I have also posted a pit of one of my phals, growing a terminal spike (boooo!) but at the same time it started growing a leaf in the usual place lol. Any thoughts?

That is a new growth on your cattleya. And good news, I don't believe that is a terminal spike since the crown of your phal is not being split with the spike. It appears the new leaf is growing in the crown and the plant will continue. --At least that is my hope, Danny!

Its not a flower spike? Oh good I was worried it was too young to support flowers lol. Glad about the spike not being terminal. The spike has one of those weird little leaves on it like the terminal spikes sometimes do.

That too happens. Of course, I could be wrong, but seeing the leaf above the spike makes me think it will be fine.

The cattleya has a new growth. Eventually, it might produce buds and blooms on that growth, but not anytime soon. It will need to mature a bit more.

I thought as much. It appeared out of nowhere - it wasn't there last time I watered lol. They do keep us on our toes
