Hi all! I attended a sale this weekend and found great stuff! At least I am happy with my haul...the other-half is still a bit alienated and loathing the promise to attend a show this coming weekend.... I got quite a bit and have a couple of questions about some of it. My cam is MIA and I cant figure how to use the other, so pics will be a bit behind.
1. zygo B.G. White(two spikes)...This plant was in the intermediate room at the greenhouse and I am wondering what sort of acclimatization process to undertake to begin leaving it outdoors at night with lows below fifty. I have seen varying opinions about light levels. Mine is covered in black spots. Is this necessary for bloom?
2. onc. sharry baby!!! with a big spike!
3. onc. twinkle....in spike
4. Paph. Hsinying Cherry "magic fire" x Paph. Macabre "black ching hua"..in bloom
5. Paph. Hsinying Quatal "#1" x Paph. Redhawk "#3"
6. Paph. Hsinying Rubyweb (X 13-08)?
7. NOID Paph....are all mottled leaved paphs Maudiae hybrids? And do Maudiae hybrids require extra calcium? I bought gallons and gallons of RO water until I can get a water quality report. Until then, it will be standard balanced ferts.

All of the paphs have multiple developing growths and are pretty good size. One is a first bloom and the others are previous bloomers. I am happy, happy, happy. Now to convert the office.

Definitely not all mottled leaf paphs are Maudiae type hybrids. Many of the brachypetalum types (belatulum for example) & parvisepalum types (denenatii is an example) have really nice mottled leaves--some much more so than the Maudiae ones. I've mentioned I don't like belatulum flowers on more than one occasion LOL but I love its leaves!

Thanks for the info Rob! I see that your fave is psychopsis. I just got home from an orchid show with one in tow. It's a pretty big plant with three spikes.

Jason, one more thing. Once those NOID paphs bloom, post some photos. We might be able to get them identified. (Although if they are Maudiae types, it's pretty much a lost cause because there are so many of them, which are very similar.)
