This is my absolute favorite wild orchid. When I was a child my parents had these and the pink lady slippers growing wild all over our land in northern Michigan.

I stumbled upon this at a campground in Door County Wisconsin in May a few years ago. My hope is to go back this year and find them again... I would also like to try growing them in my yard. I will need to research to see if I have the right environment and soil for them. Thanks to this forum I now have the full name to go with the flower. I will post again with more pictures if I am able to find them blooming again. There is nothing more special than finding them in the wild.

That is so true there is nothing like finding one of Mother Nature’s little treasures. Have you ever noticed how happy they look in their natural habitat? I know that sounds silly but it is true. Especially with wild Iris and wild violates they seem to be singing to the sun and smiling to all that pass by.
