I got this last year, I had it labeled philippinensis but I have my doubts.
Anyways whatever it is we love it still.

Not sure of the name either, just wish it was my plant.
The flowerhape does not quite look like R philippinensis. Probably a hybrid with philippinensis in it. I found that there is a lot of mislabelling of Renanthera amongst nurseries: I tend to not buy plants any more, unless I see the plant in flower.
Hard to tell which: could have R elongata in it.
Man, that is a bold red color.
Cheers,

I'd agree with the Renanthera part...I love them and look at them lots online and at the nurseries. lol I like the bottom petals; they remind me of little cowboy chaps...bowlegged to boot.
My thoughts initially is that this is a hybrid. So i think the reaction here would confirm it.
Thanks
always stunning those!
cant really help with the id either....
wow...stunning! of i could grow these, but I likely can't
When you have these plants that you suspect may be of hybrid origin, it would be helpful if you included the size of your flowers. Flowers of Renanthera philippinensis are about 4 cm tall. Whereas flowers of R. elongata, which also occurs in the southern Philippines, are about 2.5 cm tall.
