Nice orchid house, Howard. That must have took some careful planning. Did you get a kit or measure and cut all the pipe yourself? Will you add shade cloth to the top also?
Cheers,

Yes, working with PVC pipe is very easy... with all due respect, it doesn't take a Plumber's license to do PVC.... it's like a giant Lincoln Logs or Erector Set project. Buy the right pieces and connect one to another.... that simple. I could just as easily made something larger in the form of a "T" like a classic Old English style greenhouse.... My project cost me about $50.00 and 2 to 3 hours of construction time.
Bruce, I was going to try to publish an article about "How I Did It", but it was too difficult for my retarded mind. I decided to have anyone interested send me an email or PM. And, yes I went to the Big Box store, purchased all the materials and measured twice - cut once. As you may know, working with PVC pipe is not rocket science! I have a 60% shade cloth that is currently on my "real" greenhouse that will be coming off today and I'll use that.... 60% might be a bit much for the situation but for now it will have to do.... I could spray paint the Poly and achieve the same thing.
I would be happy to help you with an article if you want, Howard. In our library, it is as easy as creating a post.
The 60 % shade will be fine as the summer light will also come in the sides of your shade house. Your cattleyas will love you for their new summer home.

Did you take photos to do a photo article, Howard? If so, then most of the work is done. Here are the steps:
1. Go to this page: Orchid Article Library
2. Click on Submit Orchid Article
3. Create a descriptive title for your new article that will give readers an understanding of what is in your article. (IE: Summer Shade House - How To)
4. Choose a category from the drop down list. In this case, choose "General Orchid Care" for lack of a better section.
5. Type the text of your article.
5. Next, upload your photos as attachments
6. Insert your attachments into your article where you would like them to be.
7. Preview your article the same way you would preview a post
8. Make any changes you would like.
9. Once you are happy, click on Submit Orchid Article.
After your article is published, the Admin account will create a thread in the main forum announcing your article has been posted. This happen within 12 hours of publishing the article. Once the thread has been created, your article will be linked in the main forum for comments, questions, and applause.
Please let me know if you need additional instructions or if something is not clear. Feel free to PM me as well.
Cheers,

Very cool. I use a small wooden contraption on my rooftop where I put some of my orchids from late Spring trough Fall. Your structure looks the perfect size.
Would just need to weigh it down so it doesn't fly away but it looks more spacious than what I have now.
That came out really well, Howard! We're zone 5 or 6 depending on the particular microclimate which varies considerably in our area.
