Here're the photos of my Potinara Haw Yuan Gold 'YK #2'. Interesting, as a side not, I see online at least the same amount of "Hwa" as I see "Haw" (even on websites like AQ Plus or RHS). So, the question arising from this is: what's the correct name?
So, while you all think about the correct name, enjoy my photos in the meantime!
I am into professional photography, and use for many nature photos (flora and fauna) a set of different macro lenses. In this case, I use a 4-diopter macro lens, 55 mm.
PS: don't mind my photos - through my company I offer a range of photo improvement services to my clients. That's why these photos look the way they look, he he he! I am used to make even the ugliest photo to something that raises lots of "Ohhh"s and "Ahhh"s everywhere. Grayish "rainy day" photos become "sunshine" photos, and the colors love the photo again. Well, you can see what I mean when looking at my photos.[/COLOR]

Here're my photos I did during the attempted cross-pollination, and also plain pollination, of my Potinara Haw Yuan Gold 'YK #2' and my Brassolaeliocattleya 'Rustic Spots'.
1. The first photo is even a comparison: left the Potinara, right the smaller Brassolaeliocattleya.
2. The anther cap of the Potinara.
3. The pollinaria of the Potinara.
4. Ensuring my little Potinara pollinaria is just fine...
Your Hwa Yuan Gold YK#2 looks darker than others that I have seen even darker than the Gold Medal winner at the World Orchid Conference held in Kuala Lumpur which I attended.
I know that there are two versions of the name but I think it is more correct to use Hwa ( referring to 'Chinese'). However I could be wrong.
Your cross holds great promise. Good luck with it.
No, I think, you are very right, Cattan. Yuan is a Chinese name, too. So "Hwa" would make sense.
At this place, it would be good to know, who discovered or created the Potinara Haw Yuan Gold 'YK #2'. That would answer those questions probably...
If I had a software like OrchidWiz, or access to the RHS or AQ Plus, I would already know... :-)
In terms of colors and brightness/darkness I only can say, that I made sure the colors match with the orchid. Means, this is exactly the way, my Potinara Haw Yuan Gold 'YK #2' looks. The saturated gold-orange is the reason, why I like it so much.
If you have a computer and internet access, you should have access to the RHS information.or access to the RHS

Susan I accessed the RHS orchid register using both 'Hwa' and 'Haw' and couldn't find any match unless it is not a Potinara any more but has been reclassified. I know the cross was made in Taiwan and registered by a Taiwanese.
All of the Cattleyas have been reorganized. It is now Rhyncolaeliocattleya Haw Yuan Gold according to RHS. The grex was registered 5/20/1997 by C.H. Hsieh. The originator of the grex is listed as Haw Yuan.
