Nice one Jeff. I'm not into nepenthes but I was quite intrigued by this one which I stumbled upon while looking for orchids. It was growing on the edge of a swampy area right out in the open exposed to the sun. This area is on the highlands at around 5000 ft elevation. What attracted me was the colour of the pitchers which is so dark brown it is almost black. Does anyone know the ID ?
Yew im not good at identifying Nepenthes not to mention highlanders.... anyways this
looks like n. ramispina to me.
Yikes look at those spines and teeth! Darwin and I were watching boats go by this weekend and one sailboat was named 'Nepenthes'. I wonder why? Maybe because it looked harmless but would eat you for lunch if it could![]()
