Good luck. follow the advice given here about keeping your tools clean and the plant in isolation. If it is a virus, it will come back as a virus lives inside the plant tissue and not on the surface of the leaves. If the plant produces new, clean leaves, then after time you can re-introduce it into your collection. I hope for the best for this one. A nice rare phal indeed.

I wouldn't jump to conclusion so fast if I were you. Unless you have it tested in a lab, your phal affliction looks like the soft bacterial rot that is so common in our region. Try sterilising with hydrogen peroxide and then apply a paste of fungicide or better still apply Physan if you can get it.(we can't here in Malaysia now)

This plant has bathed in Hydrogen Peroxide and PP solution on different days. Has Mycocide as general and specific treatment. Also sprinkled with cinnamon powder. Leaves are sheared which are badly affected.

Right now, it seems to have stabled down. Also noticed 2 new growth. Hopefully the days of fighting disease is over and now the plant need some well-deserved recuperation.

Even if it is a virus, I heard the infected plants live fine. You just have to be careful about making your other plants sick (eg you could put the sick plant in a fish tank and cover it with mosquito netting so as to avoid mosquitoes coming in and passing the virus onto the rest of the plant). That is, if you do not want to destroy it. And of course you have to be careful about tools.

Right now, it has stabled down a lot and is sitting in one semi-bright corner of my kitchen, totally isolated.

Some updates. The Phal micholitzii has stabled down, grown some new leaves and even a spike. I am not too fazed about the spike though, since it could be that it is growing very well or it is just trying to flower as a distress signal. I am thinking of the latter. Anyways, some pics....
