Sounds like a great trip Amey! I went to Krakow a few years ago and loved it! Although, that was before I got into growing orchids so I didn't know that they had such an amazing orchid house.

What a trip, I belive you enjoyed it: beautiful and warm greenhouse, surrounded by tropical orchids, outside the winter and snow...wow, amazing!
Hi Amey, I'm happy you enjoyed your trip to my home country. You are right Krakow is a beautiful old city with one of the oldest University in Europe.
Interesting for me is the fact, that in rich western countries like Holland or even Germany some botanical gardens are closed, because of money, and Poland, for sure not rich county is willing to keep such huge orchid collection. It's always a question of priority. What do you think?
What a wonderful trip that you shared with some wonderful people. Thanks for sharing the good times. AL
Tak Mietek ! LOL That was the only word I picked up. I think it is not only the question of priority, but also of culture and history. The orchid collection was a part of the history of the castle as it was started by the royal Potocski family, also the collection included some historical plants. Secondly it is a major tourist attraction for a town which has no other major tourism angle, thats why I think that funds are diverted for the running of such wonderful orchid houses.
Amey,
I'm glad you came to Germany without any troubles.
Thank you for your visit and beautiful gift that you made, and of course for the songs.
You are very smart, friendly and always smiling young man. I'm glad that I could met you. You are always welcome in Lancut.
And I invite all orchidmaniacs to Orchidgarden in Łańcut
