    Default Cattleya Chocolate Drop x Pot Rubescence - my red cattelya

    I have always wanted a red cattelya but have never been successful with them as most red SLC don't seem to like the hot lowlands where I live. A few months ago the vendor offered me a red cattelya but the flowers had allready withered and the colour could not be accurately determined. However desperation for a red cattelya coupled with the price of USD 10 (being the stingy/cheapskate that I am) I succumbed to the temptation and bought it. Now it has bloomed with 5 flowers , well presented on the spike - each flower measuring 3 1/2inces. I'm not disappointed with it.

    Oh wow! I am with you...red cattleya just can be difficult to bloom or rebloom. It is so lovely to find a catt...esp. one as lovely at this one...that blooms again and again for you. WTG....this is an especially lovely red!
