Cypripedium acuale

I just received 3 young plants, bare root. I potted them up in an acidic mix and currently have them in my basement under HPS. Does anyone here have any exerience with this Cyp? My intent is to grow them on and transplant outdoors in early September.

I guess I will just get them growing in the pots and transplant into the garden in September. I might even leave them in their pots over the winter. Hey, for $5 a piece I can hardly go wrong.......

I know this is a little late, but these actually grow wild where I live in Central PA! I still haven't found any on MY 14.5 acres of woods.... but I just might have to buy some myself to have them! Heh heh heh!

The probability of growing that species is next to zero. It lives in symbiosis with a fungus & if you don't have that you are probably out of luck. Typical results of transplanting is that you get a plant with flower the following year, a leaf the next year, and nothing in subsequent years. Another problem with transplanting is damaging the roots. The roots typically grow on the surface under the leaf duff and people damage them when they try to transplant the plant. What you can buy is probably wild collected.
