Thanks Bruce I am a little nervous to say the least as I really am new to this type of orchid but I am raring to go and what with all of the helpful info in this thread I am sure that I will manage it just fine.

Well just to let you all know I have now repotted my catt. I used a mix of medium bark and sphag. I watered the catt the day before and my medium that I repotted into to was moist - I hope this is the right way to go about it. I saw no root rot and there were many roots. I have potted it up so that the back was nearest to the wall of the pot and the front had the most space to grow from. The new growth has lots of room in the pot to grow. I noticed some strange round little grey balls in the medium and attached to the roots. Does anyone know what they are? When I squashed one it gave out a thin grey gunky fluid. Anyway I hope that it continues to do well as I have also noticed that the lead growth has a suspicious bulge forming in the top of the sheaf leaf...

The round gray balls are most likely slime mold. Might want to let your media (bark) dry out for a few weeks before you water again.

Yes I think that I will be doing that next time -letting the media dry out sufficiently. Those strange balls were very peculiar, they were almost part of the plant they didn't seem to me to be harmful just not what I expected to see. They were almost part of the plant. Anyway, I think for sure that it is coming into sheaf!! I have noticed that there is a gap appearing in the top of the leaf and the small round bump just below is also growing so fingers crossed I will have blooms soon.

Thank you, Susie.....we'll be waiting for pictures when you have blooms later. That's always exciting. I agree that your potting job was well done. I'm sorry, but I cannot comment on the small balls, as I've not experienced them before or even read about them. For future reference, though (just in case you happen upon a probably different type of small ball), I have read that some growers (before you obtain the orchid) fertilize with a type of small ball, but yours do not look like them, as far as I have seen pictures of and read about.

Someone else more experienced than I please correct me if I have given Susie incorrect info. I don't want to lead her down the wrong path.
