Beautiful! Is it fragrant?
Wow! The bloom is lovely, but I'm so taken with your fabulous photo of it - it's really fantastic and shows a good bit of effort and care. Do you photograph professionally? Or are you one of the many sophisticated and talented amateurs on the forum? In any event, I'd love to hear the specifics on your set-up.

THANK YOU! I assume your macro lens is fixed-focus, which, in my short experience, I have only seen at 60 and 70mm - but you get a great shot at 105 and 2.8 is one fast lens! I generally also use a black background, but it never occurred to me to use an LED light. Does that give you more accurate color? What white balance setting would you use with an LED light?
I apologize for all the tech questions, but it really helps me to know as much as I can about the best techniques for photographing my orchids.
And kudos to you, again, my friend, for such beautiful work.
Maura

Hi Mauricio!
As I said, I have never used an LED light, but Phillip, my husband, has a ring LED for his 60mm fixed-focus and he's gunning for a 105mm like yours. He's gotten some funky colors from the ring, and I REALLY don't like using a flash (makes for a flat-looking photo), so we both tend to shoot in indirect daylighting indoors, but get the best colors outdoors, as long as the light is good enough. Thanks for letting me know about the white balance - I also take a lot of shots with different white balances to compare which give the most accurate color. I've found, though, that anything in the darker tones of pink/purple/magenta is REALLY tough to get, so I think I'll see if an LED will help with that. Thanks!
Maura

Congratulations Mauricio.
Great Species, great images.
