This is the same plant which I showed maybe last year when it had a single spike, and which caused some interest because the spike is more is less vertical instead of horizontal and drooping ; I wonder if it is not the true species, but a hybrid - it is rather small flowered, and very free flowered along the spike - maybe odoratum x affine (syn- multiflora) ?.
However, whatever is the right name, now it has a total of four growths, and has two spikes on the original, two spikes on one of the new growths, one on a second, and none on the third ( latest ) growth. Colour is not as dark as last year, and a few buds have blasted, probably because the plant has been neglected for a few critical weeks whilst my wife was in hospital and I hardly went into the greenhouse.
But I'm quite pleased with this . I have several other vandaceous plants which are producing keikis, and starting to mass up - well that is a bit of an exaggeration when I say mass up, but you will know what I mean. Seems these plants like my ( normal) treatment this year ; of course the winter will be more of a challenge !

Very nice, whatever the ID is. I wouldn't kick that out of my collection...

Whatever you're doing with or to it seems to be working extremely well - a beautiful orchid!

Hmm, you do have just a 'few' flowers there, don't you. Well grown, Geoff! (Btw, hope your wife is doing better now.)

After bringing it in to photograph, my wife asked me to use it on the dining room table for decoration between meals - instead of the pot of chrysanths which was there ( we only eat there for our main meal - the others are taken in the quite large kitchen we have ) a few hours later, opening the door to lay the table for dinner we discovered the room filled with perfume.
Well it is called odoratum ! But I had not noticed it in the greenhouse. I live and learn.

Definitely not mea culpa, but friends brought flowers etc when visiting my wife, and they always tell us that bringing orchids would be like taking coals to Newcastle ( I wonder if that expression ever crossed the Atlantic ?).
