Brassia Edvah Loo

I purchased this last year. It is the first bloom in my care. It shot out a spike as soon and I put it in s/h and put it outside. The flowers are 16" from top to bottom.

Sorry about the quality of the photo, the battery is so low and it is hating me for using it.

I cheat a little. In the winter, it was grown under HID lights, 250W metal Haldade, 250W Hight pressue sodium. I put it outside as soon as the weather stayed decent. I think it needs the high heat to make it spike. Really though, I have don't done anything special to grow it. I do have a knack for oncidiums & brassia's though.

That you do Traci! And you are killing me with all these photos of beautiful flowers and well grown plants... my first thought on this one was a crowded beach... arms and legs everywhere...

Thanks Tim! This one is kind of funky though, the petals are twisted. They seem to be straigtening out as they open, it just is weird.

Always a great feeling when you get that first bloom on your watch! Nice blooms. I really like the pot you have around your inner pot. That is a great idea. My grow area needs a touch like that, right now I look like I am doing a science project with all these S/H pots

I would say Brassia's are fairly light care. Mine seem to grow well in window light. I'll have to get a picture up of my Brassia Shooting Star as the blooms open.
