Just a big wow!

More flowers have opened. Checked this morning and flowers 3 on one raceme and flower 2 on another raceme have opened. I have tried pollination on 2 of the flowers. The first one still has the old flower attached (3 days after pollination). But will try pollinating the new flowers in about an hour (10.30am GMT). The is only a very slight scent but is not of vanilla. I did taste the drops of liquid on the stem. It was very sticky, sweet and faint taste of honey. Fingers crossed now for successful pollination.
I cannot believe how big that vine is they collected! Wow... My vanilla vine would look like a baby plant next to that and I have been so excited it is finally over 3 ft long. lol I cannot wait until mine starts flowering.
Fantastic flower there!!!

The tahitensis is approx 5m long and the thickest part of the stem is only about 1cm thick. I've a planifolia thats over 7m long and 1.5cm at the thickest part of its stem. I have been told that they can get alot thicker as well. The crenulata I have is about 5 m long but is still only .5cm thick in the stem. I did have a cutting of a polylepsis (which unfortunately was temperatmental and died) that had a stem of over 2.5cm.
I smelt a flower again but there is still only a very faint smell which is more like a normal "nectar" type smell. The first pod I tried pollinating was holding on still yesterday. The unsuccessful pollinations have already fallen off so hopefully its a good sign. More flowers today to try so fingers crossed.
