green Cordyline fruticosa like plants is wat its hung on
I have half a dozen different plants of Schomburgkia/Myrmecophila- ( splendens/rosea/thompsonii etc; All grown in pots, using bark and a bit of sphagnum moss, but I note that the masses of new roots produced don't enter the compost and prefer to hang outside the pots. I grow them hanging up in my greenhouse ( this is a cool temperate country) and spray all the hanging plants including these, every sunny day, but not on cool rainy days.
Having read that they prefer to be mounted, and the new flush of roots follows flowering ( I had not noticed that at first, but then none of them flowered for the first couple of years that I had them, although they were certainly big enough ) I took one out of its pot and wired it to a slab of bark, a month or two ago, to see what will happen. So far nothing. Maybe depotting was too much of a shock . I hope this is not the start of decline, but will wait and e what happens.
